Records from previous schools
are essential items in the enrollment
process. These records must
be official copies of academic
records from each school attended
during the past three years.
Before an application can be
fully evaluated, if the records
are in a language other than
English, the records and documents
must be translated into English.
If current records are not available
at the time of registration,
the records and documents must
be sent to the school as soon
as possible. A student will
not be considered for admission
until official school records
are submitted.
Full and accurate information
about the student is important
for the faculty to properly
assess ISK’s ability to provide
an appropriate educational program.
The withholding of records,
especially those indicating
that a student has special needs
or educational handicaps may
delay the admission process
and the placement of the student
into the school. Therefore accurate
and complete information about
any special needs of the student
is required. Withholding of
information can result in later
reversal of acceptance.
A limited number of English
as a Second Language (ESL) classes
are available for students with
little or no English. Students,
who are not native English speakers,
may also be required to take
a test to determine their English
proficiency level. The academic
records of those students needing
further assistance in English
will be assessed. Students will
be selected for the beginning
level ESL classes based on academic
records from their previous
school and their level of English
proficiency. Students with limited
English proficiency are not
guaranteed admission to ISK.
When there is a question about
a student’s ability to
function at ISK, the faculty
will review the student’s records
and ISK’s assessment information
to determine if ISK can provide
an appropriate program for the
student.
After all required registration
materials have been submitted
to the school and it is determined
that the student meets ISK’s
entrance criteria, grade placement
will also be determined according
to ISK’s policy.
All new students will be asked
to take one or more placement
assessment tests if necessary.
These assessments are designed
to assist in making an accurate
placement of the student into
the school curriculum. |
