English Language Development (ELD) Program
The English Language Development (ELD) program implemented at the International School of Kuantan (ISK) is designed to support students in achieving English proficiency. The program takes into account the diverse needs of learners and provides a tailored approach to language acquisition and mastery.
The ELD program at ISK utilizes various sources of data to inform lesson planning and ensure targeted instruction. One of the sources of data used is the NWEA Map diagnostic assessment, which provides valuable insights into students' language proficiency levels and areas of improvement. Additionally, classroom observations are conducted to gather information about students' performance and progress.
By using a data-driven approach, the ELD program at ISK ensures that lessons are specifically targeted to address the individual needs of each student. This approach optimizes the learning experience and facilitates more effective language development. Lessons are designed to focus on the areas where students need improvement, whether it's grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, or speaking skills.
The ELD program at ISK aims to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for students. Teachers employ various instructional strategies, materials, and resources to enhance language development. They may use interactive activities, group discussions, multimedia resources, and authentic language tasks to help students build their English language skills.
Performance and Achievement System for Success (PASS)
The Performance and Achievement System for Success (PASS) is an initiative implemented by ISK to enhance the academic performance of students. It is a teacher-led program that takes place after regular school hours, and it is offered to students free of charge.
The primary objective of PASS is to provide additional support and resources to students, enabling them to meet the minimum standards required in their courses. By doing so, PASS aims to create a solid foundation for academic excellence among the students.
Through this program, students can receive personalized attention, guidance, and assistance from teachers. The teachers involved in PASS are dedicated to helping students reach their full academic potential. They may offer extra tutoring sessions, conduct review classes, provide study materials, or implement strategies tailored to address individual student needs.
By offering this supplemental support outside of regular school hours, PASS aims to ensure that students have access to the resources and assistance they require to succeed academically. It recognizes that some students may benefit from additional help beyond what is provided during regular class time.
